These days, readers are not interested in the sob stories of villains.
It’s because they commit all sorts of misdeeds and only divulge their excuses after tasting failure.
To say that the villain was once a good person, or that the world made them evil, is nauseating.
A terrible script and melodrama cannot be saved even with the passionate performance of a top-tier actor.
No matter how awkwardly you try to sell emotions through a clumsy writing, people will not empathize.
After all, this is true nowadays, as well as in any era.
In an age where a heroine’s fate can be twisted and destroyed if she fails to win readers’ hearts,
It was a time when even the prettiest of girls had to struggle to survive in the world of fiction.
No longer is it a tender world where every intricate detail of the villains’ stories can be heard.
I, too, had no interest in such circumstances.
I should have thought a bit differently.
Although it is a time of intense competition, it is also an era of random possession, where readers can fly into the world of a novel.
Only the strangest characters are chosen for possession, so being an extra or a villain is the default fate.
Since there was no chance of being possessed by the protagonist, I should have taken a closer look around me.
But still.
Honestly, it was unfair.
Being possessed by a character who knows they’re in a novel grants enormous benefits.
It’s only natural that things can’t always go my way in life, so I can concede in terms of my possessed character. There’s no law dictating that I must possess a fortunate character.
Moreover, in this day and age, being the final boss virtually guarantees a comfortable possessed life.
But what if this novel was poorly written?
What if this is a mass-produced romance-fantasy novel where the heroine spends her days flirting with conceited male leads?
If all I’ve seen are the leads’ passionate exchanges, and my fate is to be a villain?
People today really had no interest in the stories of villains.
The author of this novel knew that well enough and didn’t include a single line about the villains’ stories in the book.
The mighty enemy fell on the battlefield, while the wicked woman was beheaded at the execution ground. Until that moment, they didn’t utter a word about their stories.
They didn’t even ask for a shred of mercy in their last will.
Thanks to this, I knew what dessert the princess of the neighboring country liked without even knowing a bit about my own future.
I didn’t know how the young lady before me would transform into an evil goddess, but I knew the prince’s childhood well; I didn’t know why burn marks appeared on my body, yet I knew why there was a scar on the wrist of the noble’s young lady.
All the knowledge I possessed was of this sort. I didn’t know what I needed to, and even if I knew, I couldn’t prepare for it.
No. I seemed to know a few things now.
Because far away, a huge mass of fire was flying towards me.
